February 29th, 2008 by ecojoe in food, free, organic, save money

Save money on organic messSometimes tea just isn’t fancy enough. Sometimes it needs a little kick of class. That is where Steeped in Style Gourmet tea comes in.

Order yo’self a free sample of gourmet tea today. Because sometimes, non-gourmet tea just ain’t gonna cut it.

*********************************

Moving right along, we have a special offer for free organic garlic gold. What is garlic gold? Turns out it is toasted organic garlic bits infused with organic olive oil. I recommend using it as a breath mint.

Zero Emission Machetes : A Green War in Iraq

February 28th, 2008 by ecojoe in eco footprint, energy conservation

The Iraq War. Many issues of this war have already been discussed, but I ask you: what of the environmental impact of the war in Iraq? The Onion steps up to the plate and delivers a home-run with this spot-on news feature.

In The Know: How Can We Make The War In Iraq More Eco-Friendly?I can’t believed no one mentioned bombing Iraq with saplings in the hope that they would take root and turn this desert into a thriving, forested land.

Free Polar Bear Stickers to Curb Global Warming

February 25th, 2008 by ecojoe in energy conservation, free, global warming

Sending it out, an SOS

Look at them polar bears. Just look at them. Dang :(

How can you help them out, you might ask? Welp, the least you can do is to help spread the word about energy conservation by emailing the Natural Resources Defense Council and requesting some free “Unplug for Polar Bears” and “Turn Off Global Warming” stickers for chargers and light switches. Email them at polarbearsosinfo@nrdc.org, and por favor give them your mailing address and how many sets of stickers you need (each set contains six stickers, 3 each of “Unplug for Polar Bears” and “Turn Off Global Warming”). “Supplies are limited so please keep your order to two sets, unless you have a special need for schools or institutions.”

If for some reason you think you’re better than the rest of us, and feel you can somehow do more than just ordering free polar bear stickers, then you can find out other ways to curb global warming rotch here. So please, act now. If not for yourself, then for the baby polar bears.

Man Transforms Reused Bus into Amazing RV

February 22nd, 2008 by ecojoe in cars, eco hero, green construction, inventions, projects, reusing, save money

HOLY MOLY, THIS USED TO BE A CHEESE BUS

Look above. That used to be a yellow cheese school bus! Man, when I first saw this, I was too interested. I read all the steps, and looked at all the pictures of what Jake Von Slatt did. What he did was buy a cheap school bus (a little more than $2,000) and transform it into a beautiful, homemade RV. I like his homemade RV for a couple reasons:

  1. He did it cheaply. The bus cost about $2,000, he did most of the work himself (or with his friends), and he got a LOT from the dump, craigslist, or freecycle.
  2. He reused a lot of materials, thereby creating his RV in a very “green” way (reused bus, materials from dump, reused mess off websites).
  3. You can see the process of the bus’s conversion. Seeing all the steps it takes is really interesting, and makes me want to (one day) attempt something like this. It’s really cool, so por favor take a look at it.

Anyhoo, enough with my thoughts. Enjoy this video of Von Slatt giving you a tour of his homemade RV that came from a lil’ ol’ cheese bus.

Free Eco-Friendly Tote Bags

February 21st, 2008 by ecojoe in eco footprint, excuses, free, green business, reusing

These cloth bags are free, I tell youIf you’ve been staying up late at night, contemplating making the switch from plastic bags to reusable cloth bags, but you don’t yet have a tote bag, well then you are in luck. For I present to you, three two different ways to get a free reusable tote bag.

  1. Free Eco-Friendly Bag – for businesses/retailers only. They put your logo on the reusable cloth bag, so you can sell them to customers, or give them away to promote your green business.
  2. Free Klean Kampsite Bag – heavy duty, reusable bags with Velcro seals and ties to keep them closed. Great for camping / RVing (to coin a word). Did not work in Firefox for me.

So now you have no excuse to not be using them reusable cloth bags. Go out and get some free ones, and, as Michael Jackson said, “Heal the world, make it a better place”.

Free Sample of Ecover Washing Up Liquid

February 19th, 2008 by ecojoe in cleaning, free, green business

Eco-friendly soap for youWarning: Turn down your sound before clicking the link (unless you like naturey sounds)

There’s a company named Ecover that seems to be all about not using artificial fragrances or chemicals in its products. They only use plant-based fragrances, and they try to keep their cleaning products as “green” as possible.

Anyhoo, if you want a free sample of some Ecover Washing Up liquid (I’m guessing that means soap), then move your mouse arrow until it is hovering over this link, and then mash the mouse button with all your might. You’ll be rewarded with a flashy page with nifty sounds; ignore it, and click on the “free sample” link in the bottom right-hand corner.

I’m awaiting my free sample of Ecover soap; a green product, plus, since it’s free, it saves you some money.

No More Credit Card Offers

February 18th, 2008 by ecojoe in paper, plastic

Credit card offers are no fun. A bunch of paper gets wasted, lots o’ gas is burned to deliver the credit card offers, and then they just fill up your mail box.

Well I say “No mas”. Here is how to stop getting credit card offers:

Go to Opt Out Pre-Screen and fill out the short form, or call 1-888-5-OPTOUT.

I was worried it was a scam, but it turns out that even the good ol’ government recommends this site.  So I went ahead and filled out the form (I left my SSN blank, just in case), and am now several months away from being free of credit card offers.  Hallelujah.

P.S.  You can also opt out of getting phone books here.
