Bikes are not just for kids and getting around the college campus. Biking is lifestyle. Anyone can talk about Eco friendly - then jump into their 200 horsepower car and drive home.
I have not had a car for some ten years now. My rationale: I am retired and living on Social Security. My choice is low cost travel, mainly Europe and Central America. To own a car costs about $6,000 a year, that's roughly the cost of two monthlong trips abroad for me - including airfare. I made a decision long ago: Car or Travel. I chose travel.
So whether it is biking to the supermarket for food and beers, biking across the Alps, or biking down the sides of the volcanoes in Ecuador, I love it. Actually if I have not been on my bike after a week - I get withdrawal symptoms.

Forilla, I ride my bike to work sometimes, but each time it's a death-defying journey down roads with no bike lanes.

I am sure bikes will more be used if the college and the city in question encourages the use of it. Better biking facilities for safer cycling is a must to encourage anyone to ride the bike, whether one is cycling to go to colleague, the post office or to work.

Bikes were popular when I was in college. However, I still prefer cars since its more comfortable and also I can sleep inside my car or review there on my spare time.

Connor, I sort of figured it was obvious that I wasn't suggesting that EVERYBODY ride bikes. Just people who are physically able to do it safely. It's probably okay if old people in wheelchairs aren't forced to ride bikes.
