I agree, you can't beat the fresh air. I've never seen one of those Amish fireplaces in real life, but that's cool that you have one and it works purty good.

I flip my breaker to the hot water heater when I do not need hot water right away any time soon. I also have one of the Amish fireplaces that really does save on the electricity and money. I have room A/C's that save money, too but I do not use them when I do not have to. Opening up the windows is a great alternative when the weather permits.

Man, I think if you asked 10 people to name the top 5 reasons why industrialized countries have longer life spans, I bet A/C wouldn’t be on there. I’d guess medicine, more food variety, less physically-damaging jobs, less war, and better shelter.

But I do agree that air conditioning should be conditional. Only thing is, a lot of times the weather outside can be good (like 65 degrees), but if the windows are closed, the temperature inside can be 75 degrees, from body heat and computer heat from people watching South Park. All’s they gotta do is open the window.

yes. if everyone in the world gave me 1 dollar I’d have over 6 billion dollars.

and in the US and industralized countries where air conditioning helps keep life expectancy longer allowing the human body to work at optimal levels…say those couple of dollars really worth it to die a few years earlier? (remember the cost of productivity when all the knowledge and experience dies with a person 1 year too soon)

I propose air conditioning that is conditional. being within a certain range of optimal human activity so you leave you AC thermostat on, if the weather outside is good then the AC would not be on anyway.

Small changes can make a big difference. With the financial turmoil in the world economy consumers now should be thinking how to save money on the household bills. Turning off the air conditioning will make a difference but so will turning off appliances and turning lights off. Buying the most energy efficient appliances we can afford can also save money and the environment. The rising household bills and the environment are now the same issue!

I know, small changes done by a lot of people will add up to big differences. On that same note, if everyone in the U.S. sent me one measly dollar, I would very much appreciate it.
