Too often people yap on and on about “being green”, but can’t really back it up. I say it’s time to put your money where your mouth is. Don’t talk about it, be about it.
Welp, I took about five minutes out of my oh-so-hectic (unemployed for a week) schedule and picked up some trash from a creek behind my house. It took less time than that to fill up a bucket with a bunch of litter. I was flabbergasted.
I found all this in about 5 minutes. I was shocked that people had wastefully tossed this into the creek; the Sprite still tasted great, yet it had been littered.
Someone had even thrown a whole chair into the creek. I wrenched it out with the fury of a hundred bald eagles.
So everybody, I implore you, take just five minutes and pick up some litter. If everyone chips in a wee bit, it will make a big difference, and global warming will be reversed and dodos will come back to life.

Hello, I do the same. I have been cleaning the creek behind my house. My problem is not the waste thrown by humans. Its the tree branches and fallen leaves clogging the creek and hence the water does not run and mosquitos hang out! Any solution?

On average how much rubbish can you collect per hour of cleaning
I clean my creek weekly. I have a bag hidden down their to use. I also need to find a way to make the water better. It is mostly gutter and road runoff. But my city di a crap job. The water just runs directly into the creek. I'm thinking of some kind of drain pond between them. But its a problem that runs for several blocks.
I found this website because I'm having problems with the creek in the back of my property. Since my next door neighbor moved in, he's been strangely obsessed with the erosion on his property. He's newly retired so I just figured this is how he wants to spend his time and I really didn't/don't care until he entered my property and cut down not one, but five, healthy trees to purposely fall into the creek on my property so that it will slow the flow when it rains and we have flash floods. Now there is all kinds of trash collecting, as mentioned in another post. The creek bed used to dry our in our hot Texas summers but now there is a berm that has formed on either side of the biggest fallen tree and two pools are filled with stagnant water…mosquitos love it! I called the city thinking that they owned the property ("Look what he did to your creek") but then found out that I'm the proud owner. We purchased a chainsaw and have been spending the last month cleaning it out and hoping the berm goes away with a few flash floods…
