Jeremy, I would like to hear in more detail about biodiesel, on this site or on your own website or blog. You should write about it somewhere - more people need to hear. I live in manhattan and have the luxery of excellent public transit, but I grew up in Michigan where cars, the car industry, highways and gasoline were and still play a significant role in the community psyche.

I would sooner recomend a used diesel vehicle running on home made biodiesel than one of these. A used diesel rabbit can be had for under a few thousand. A biodiesel set up can be made for a few hundred or even cheaper. I am a fan of electric vehicles but they are generally fueled by coal fired power plants. So although the car itself doesn't polute, the electrity it uses generally does. Not to mention the batteries lose energy in the storage process. In helping your country you might also want to consider that biodiesel is once again preffered. This being because you make it yourself from used vegetable oil. It also helps your self sufficency since you are not relying on some corporate power plant to give you energy. Producing your own biodiesel is the true democratiztion of energy. I would be happy to do a write up on it in more detail for this site if it were asked.

This sounds really useful, except that most of the driving by my household members takes place on highways (because of a long work commute).

Sounds great, but when will the manufacturer produce a vehicle which will accomodate a super sized American? No way my husband could fit into a Kurrent!!!! Plus he's rather tall. Would his head hit the roof at every bump in the road? Is there room for long legs? Is the interior made with eco-friendly materials?
